  14. This document will help you install and select an HP LaserJet 4 printer
  15. driver for Harvard Graphics version 3.0.  Technical support for this driver
  16. is available from Software Publishing Corporation at (408) 988-4005.

  19. INSTALLING A PRINTER DRIVER
  20.  
  21. Setting up your HP LaserJet 4 printer with Harvard Graphics 3.0 is a two-
  22. step process:
  23.  
  24.   1. Installing the printer driver.
  25.  
  26.   2. Selecting the printer driver in Harvard Graphics.
  27.

  29. To Install the HP LaserJet 4 printer driver follow these steps:
  30.  
  31.   1. Insert the driver disk in drive A: (or B:).
  32.  
  33.   2. At the operating system prompt, type A: (or B:), then press [Enter] to
  34.      make A: (or B:) the current drive.
  35.  
  36.   3. At the prompt, copy the driver files to the DRIVER subdirectory in the
  37.      directory where Harvard Graphics 3.0 is installed (for example, type
  38.      COPY *.* C:\HG3\DRIVER), then press [Enter].

  41. SELECTING AND CONFIGURING A PRINTER DRIVER
  42.  
  43. To select the HP LaserJet 4 printer driver you installed, start Harvard
  44. Graphics 3.0 and follow these steps:
  45.  
  46.   1. At the [F6]- Main Menu, select [8]-Setup menu.
  47.  
  48.   2. Select [5]-Printer 1 Setup Menu.
  49.  
  50.   3. With the cursor highlighting the "Printer type" selection, press
  51.      [F3]-Choices to see a list of printers.
  52.  
  53.   4. Use the "arrow" keys to scroll through the list of printer drivers,
  54.      highlight one of the following drivers, then press enter:
  55.  
  56.          "HP LaserJet 4 (HPGL/2)
  57.  
  58.          "HP LaserJet 4 (HPGL/2) BPrI," if you have the "Brilliant
  59.           Presentations I Compelling Publications II" font Cartridge
  60.  
  61.          "HP LaserJet 4 (HPGL/2) DDocI" printer driver if you have the
  62.           "Distinctive Documents I/Compelling Publications I" font cartridge
  63.  
  64.   5. Press [Tab] to highlight "Output port," then press [F3]-Choices to list
  65.      available ports.  Select the port your printer is using, then press
  66.      [Enter].

  68.   6. Press [Tab] to highlight "Default paper size."  Press [F3]-Choices,
  69.      select the appropriate paper size, then press [Enter].

  71.   7. Press [Tab] to highlight "Use Spooler."  Press [F3]-Choices, select
  72.      "Yes" or "No," then press [Enter].

  74.         Note: Setting "Use spooler" to "Yes" initiates the Harvard Graphics
  75.               internal printer spooler which will allow you to return to
  76.               work within Harvard Graphics sooner after printing.  If you
  77.               select "No" for this option, you will have to wait until the
  78.               entire print job has completed to continue working.

  80.               If you are using another print spooler,(a hardware spooler or
  81.               a software spooling utility, for example), you should select
  82.               "No" for the "Use spooler" option.  Do not use the Harvard
  83.               Graphics spooler while any other spooler is active.

  85.   8. Press [Tab] to highlight "Quality", press [F3]-(Choices), highlight
  86.      High, Medium or Low print quality, then press [Enter].

  88.   9. After making all selections, select [F10]-Continue, then press the
  89.      "Esc" key to return to the F6-Main Menu.
